Seeking Law Student Volunteers for the 2012 NAPABA Convention

A message from the 2012 NAPABA Convention Volunteers Committee:

We are writing to tell you about an exciting opportunity to volunteer at this year’s 2012 National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Convention at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC from November 15-18, 2012.  The NAPABA Convention is one of the largest events of its kind in the country, bringing together Asian Pacific American judges, attorneys, government officials, legal scholars, and law students.  Every year, the Host Committee relies on the help of student volunteers to ensure the success of the Convention.  We hope that you or someone you know will be interested in volunteering at this year’s 2012 NAPABA Convention in DC.  NAPABA will provide complimentary Convention registration to law student volunteers, but space is limited and we may not be able to accommodate every request to volunteer.

Volunteers will assist with: registration, set-up, break-out panels, checking in attendees for CLE credit, receptions, VIPs, and hosting the Saturday evening gala dinner, among other activities.  For those of you who are or will be in Washington, DC immediately prior to the official start of the Convention, we will also need volunteer assistance on November 13 and 14.

The deadline to apply to be a volunteer is Friday, September 21.  Priority may be given to those who apply early. Please note that filling out the application form below does NOT guarantee a spot on the volunteer team.  Selections of volunteers will be made by the Volunteers Committee Co-Chairs and formally confirmed by email to each volunteer as soon as possible after the September 21 deadline.

Confirmed volunteers will be asked to provide their credit card information to the Committee in exchange for a promotion code to input into the online Convention registration form.  The promotion code will enable confirmed volunteers to register online for the Convention without being charged the registration fee.  Volunteers who do not provide at least 8 hours of volunteer service at the Convention will be charged the registration fee (at the $150 discounted member rate for law students) using the credit card information provided to the Committee.  Confirmed law student volunteers who may have registered and paid the registration fee before applying for this volunteer opportunity will be reimbursed for their registration fee after the Convention and upon verification that they provided at least 8 hours of volunteer service.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the form at:  http://bit.ly/LawStudentVolunteers. Also, please see the attached FAQs for more information.  Please feel free to forward this to any other law students that you think would be interested in volunteering or to other Asian Pacific American law student or bar associations.  If you have any questions, we can be reached at: 2012napabavolunteers@gmail.com.  Please visit www.napaba.org for more information about this year’s Convention.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

Best Regards,

Joanne Chan, Ben Huh, Kelu Sullivan, and Carol Wong
