Amy Jung | Amy is a fourth year part-time student at George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School, where she is a member of the Journal of Law, Economics & Policy, and APALSA. She is interested in civil litigation, international trade, and education law. She received her bachelor's degree from Ewha Womans University in South Korea. In her free time, she spends time with her family and friends and loves running and driving. 

This semester, Amy is participating in the Poverty Law Clinic at law school. In the future, she hopes to pursue a fulfilling career while being a good mother to her son. She looks forward to the day when she can give back all the help and support she has received throughout her law school journey.

 
 
 

Arianna Chen | Arianna is a 2L at Georgetown University Law Center. Arianna is passionate about the intersection of civil rights and educational justice.  Along with serving as APALSA President, Arianna is a Legal Practice Law Fellow, research assistant, Staff Editor for the Georgetown Journal on Poverty Law & Policy, and RISE Fellow. She currently is a legal extern for DOJ - Civil Rights Division and will extern at NAACP Legal Defense Fund in the spring. 

Originally from New Jersey, Arianna received her bachelor's degree from Fordham University, during which time she taught in NYC Title I schools, conducted education policy work for NYC local government and Obama Foundation, and served as an ardent student organizer for DEI in higher education. In her free time, she enjoys New Yorker crossword puzzles, gardening, and hosting dinner parties.

 
 
 

Jessica Kweon | Jessica is a 2L at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Jessica has interned for the Honorable Judge Douglas R. M. Nazarian of the Appellate Court of Maryland, the Honorable Judge Mary M. Kramer of the Circuit Court for Howard County, and the Honorable Judge Catherine Chen of the District Court for Baltimore City. Jessica is also a first-year staff editor for the University of Baltimore's Law Forum, a member of the Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court team, and Vice President of the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. 

Prior to law school, Jessica received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minors in Biology and Writing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. There, she developed a multidisciplinary background and discovered a passion for research, writing, and community engagement. Jessica is also a Baltimore City College alum. In her free time, Jessica loves to rank her favorite DMV boba tea shops and play with her Yorkie, Kong (Bean).  

After law school, Jessica hopes to become an effective advocate, attorney, and leader in her community. In the future, Jessica also hopes to serve as a board member and judge.

 
 
 

Jill Chien | Jill is a 3L at George Washington University Law School. Jill is a Public Interest Scholar at GW Law. From May 2022 to May 2023, she was a law clerk with the Arlington County Public Defender Office, where she plans to return in January 2024. In the summer of 2023, she was a law clerk with the trial division at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. This semester, she is interning at the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center and for the legislative team within the Parental Defense Division at the Maryland Office of the Public Defender. Within the law school, she served as the Director of Events for GW APALSA from 2022-2023, and is also involved with GW Defenders and the Mock Trial Board. She is pursuing a concentration in Family Law.

Jill has a bachelor’s in clinical social work from NYU and a master’s in social policy from Columbia. Prior to law school, she worked as a licensed social worker in various public defender offices, and her desire to continue promoting language access and culturally sensitive advocacy within existing justice systems motivated her to pursue a legal education. She strongly believes in the efficacy of interdisciplinary practice, and she hopes to integrate her background in social work with formal legal training so she can return to indigent defense with a more multifaceted perspective upon graduation.


2022-2023 AEF Student Liaisons

 

Adrian Lee | Adrian is a 3L at The George Washington University Law School. He currently serves as the President of APALSA, Co-President of the Antitrust Law Association, ABA Antitrust Section Law School Ambassador, and a Dean’s Fellow. Adrian is also a former President of NAPALSA and a law clerk for NAPABA. Adrian is passionate about antitrust and plans to work in the field upon graduation. 

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Adrian received his bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Before law school, he worked as a corporate paralegal at a Silicon Valley law firm and as a managing paralegal at a personal finance technology company. In his free time, Adrian enjoys cheering for his favorite Bay Area sports teams, DJing, and hanging out with his corgi at the park. 

 

Adelia Kim | Adelia is a 2L at American University Washington College of Law. She is a member of the Transactional Negotiation Team, ELSA’s John H. Jackson Moot Court, and a Junior Staff for the Administrative Law Review. Currently, she works as a legal intern at the FCC. She is passionate about international trade and national security with particular interest in shipbuilding and shipping industry. 

Prior to law school, she worked at the Korea Trade-Promotion Agency in New York, NY, a think tank in Washington, D.C., and for the Ministry of Education in Madrid, Spain. This past summer, she interned at a mid-sized law firm in Portland, OR. In her free time, she enjoys running with the school Running Club, and exploring her creative side through drawing and painting. She is also a certified sailor.

 

Alysa Aroonsakulwongse | Alysa a 1L at George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. She is interested in litigation, criminal law, and international law. She is a current member of APALSA at Scalia Law. Before attending law school, she attended George Mason University where she received her degree in Criminology, Law and Society. During her freetime, she enjoys rock climbing and exploring new restaurants in the DMV area!

Amy Lyons | Amy is a 2L at American University Washington College of Law where she is also completing a dual degree with American University's School of International Service. She serves on her school's APALSA board as the Social & Cultural Chair, is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Honor Society, and is a staff writer for the Human Rights Brief. She is passionate about international human rights as well as peace and conflict resolution. She received dual degrees from the University of Maine where she studied International Business and International Security. Prior to law school, she worked as a paralegal at two large New England law firms and volunteered as a translator for an immigrant legal services organization. In her free time, she loves to explore the DMV's greatest eateries and perfecting gluten-free baked goods.

 

Tiffany Ngo | Tiffany is a 2L at the University of Richmond School of Law where she currently serves as the Vice President of Richmond Women's Law, Vice President of APALSA, Secretary of the Virginia Bar Association Law School Council, and was just recently appointed as an Admissions Ambassador. She is also a Staff Editor for her school’s Public Interest Law Review. Prior to law school, she worked as a paralegal for 3 years at a small workers' compensation and personal injury firm. This past summer, she interned with a federal consumer litigation firm gaining experience in class actions is currently continuing that work along with interning at Apex Systems during this school year. In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her 2 dogs, a Corgi and a Shiba Inu, or playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

 

Claris Park | Claris is a 2L at Georgetown Law, where she serves as the President of APALSA. They are a 2L Delegate in the Student Bar Association’s House of Delegates, a Staff Member of The Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics, and the Outreach Coordinator of the Antitrust Law Association. She has interned for the Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law and the Accountability Counsel. Prior to law school, Claris graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania, and they worked as a theatre maker and an administrator at Spiral Q, an arts and cultural organizing non-profit. She was a member of the Philadelphia Asian Performing Artists collective and was previously nominated for multiple Barrymore Awards for acting.

 

Ozoda Usmanova | Ozoda Usmanova is an LL.M. in National Security Law candidate at Georgetown University Law Center specializing in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy. Originally from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Ozoda obtained her first law degree from Tashkent State University of Law before immigrating to the United States. Ozoda previously worked in Silicon Valley and later as a cyber defense analyst. In 2018, she joined the D.C. Attorney General's Office as a Litigation Technology Paralegal Specialist. She splits her time between Civil Litigation and Consumer Protection Divisions, where she assists in the technical management of complex civil litigation and governmental investigations. In 2020, Ozoda joined the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensics Research Lab as Digital Sherlock Scholar, where she focused her research on deepfakes and disinformation campaigns. Most recently, Ozoda received Security Innovation Scholarship from ICMCP (International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals) and completed six-month Red Team training. Ozoda speaks four languages and currently learning Chinese Mandarin. She's been a proud APALSA member since 2019 and is excited to join AEF as a student liaison.

 

Angela Yip | Angela Yip is a 2L at Washington and Lee Law School, where she serves as the Vice President of APALSA. She is also the President of the Public Interest Law Students Association at W&L and has competed in the Moot Court competition. She earned her undergraduate degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. She is excited to share AEF opportunities with students and create networking opportunities within the AEF community.

Drake Birnbaum | Drake is a 2L at American University Washington College of Law. He is passionate about protecting citizens rights and advocating for vulnerable groups. Drake is pursuing a career in national security. One fun fact about Drake is that he likes to dance.

Helen Mun | Helen Mun is 2L at Georgetown University Law Center, where she is serving as Professional Chair of APALSA. She is a Legal Writing Law Fellow and a Staff Member of The Georgetown Law Journal, and has interned with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Community Living, and the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice.  Helen studied Sociology and Public Health at Davidson College, and prior to law school worked at the Georgia Justice Project, an Atlanta-based non-profit providing legal services, indigent defense, and advancing criminal justice reform. In her free time, she loves to paint and play tennis.

Dara Shen | Dara is a 4L evening student at UDC Law, where she is currently serving her second term as President of APALSA.  Dara’s law school experience includes internships with Apple, Inc., the United States Attorney’s Office, and competitions with the Negotiations and Mock Trial teams. Before law school, Dara received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech.  Dara is also a former National Champion boxer and mother of a one-year old boy.

Sicai Zhu | Sicai is a 2L at Washington and Lee University School of Law. Prior to attending her JD program, Sicai worked as a legal analyst at Duff and Phelps Corporation and as a paralegal at Target Corporation. Sicai obtained her LL.M. degree from University of Minnesota and earned her undergraduate degree in International Economic Law from the Nanjing Normal University in China. Sicai is currently serving as the Vice-President of APALSA at Washington and Lee.

Boseul (Jenny) Jeong | Boseul received her JD at the George Washington University Law School where she served as an Online Editor of The George Washington Law Review. She was also on the Board of Asian Pacific American Law Students Association at GW and National Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. She is from Seoul, South Korea and earned her bachelor's degree from the Elliott School of International Affairs of the George Washington University. She will be joining Morris, Manning & Martin LLP as an associate.
